| Meet our Staff
Kristen Colvin Buntin
began her dance training at the age of
three under the instruction of Bonnie Partridge in Columbus,
Mississippi. She also studied at Susan's Dance Studio under the
direction of Susan Forrester in Columbus, Mississippi and Dancing Feet
Academy in Starkville, Mississippi under the direction of Glenda Clark. After moving to New York City, Kristen was chosen to
fulfill an internship at Broadway Dance Center, where she had the
opportunity to train under Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, and Frank
Hatchett. Kristen has coached and choreographed for the
Columbus Arts Council, Dancing Feet Academy's Company Dance, the
Starkville Academy Lady Blues Dance Team, New Hope High School's Dance
Express, and West Point High School's Junior Varsity and Varsity
Cheerleaders and Dynasty and Encore Show Choirs.
Kristen opened WDC in West Point, Mississippi in 2008 as a
home of the arts and a supporter of the visions of the young and the
young at heart. Reggie Dykes began his dance training in 1993 under Terrayne Ellis, Artistic Director of Main Attraction Dance Troupe in Chicago, where he focused on on hip hop. He also learned how to "footwork", a Chicago-based dance known to the house heads all around the world. In 2004, he ventured out on his own and started his own dance troupe, which won a lot of trophies and cash prizes throughout the Chicago area. Later on, Reggie was chosen to be one of the choreographers for Dyde-n-nem, who had a hit song called "Watch My Feet". He toured with the group around the United States for 8 months, dancing in their shows and on the music video. Reggie has worked with some of Madonna and Missy Elliott's dancers, and he also does choreography for different dance groups from Chicago. Now Reggie devotes his time to training youth in his style of dance. Mia Vick
began dancing in West Point, MS under the direction of
Jaque and Sara Waide at the age of three. Mia also trained in gymnastics
under Nancy Stroudman and Lisa Ross. She was a member of the
performance group Synergy at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC,
awarded the Best Dancer award by the Universal Cheerleading Association
in 1989 and was the co-captain of the Freedom Float in the Macy's
Thanksgiving Parade in 1999. Mia has appeared in theatrical productions
for twelve years, including Grease and Fiddler on the Roof to name a
few.Mia is currently the president of the West Point Music Coterie and
is starting her second year of teaching at WDC.
Katie
Poindexter
 began her dance training
at the age of three with a focus in ballet, tap,and jazz. She later
transferred her training to Susan's Dance Studio under the direction of
Susan Forrester in Columbus, MS. Katie continued her training at The
Ballet Conservatory in Fort Walton Beach and performed with her school's
dance team, Southern Pride. In 2004 Katie was chosen to dance in Walt
Disney World's Thanksgiving Day Parade in Orlando. Moving back to West
Point, MS in 2007, Katie joined Warehouse Dance Company as a member of
the Dance Company, and worked as a Teacher's Assistant for WDC. Katie is
the current Office Manager at WDC and is also the assistant coach for
the Starkville Academy Lady Blues.
"Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has
never danced in the rain" - Author Unknown Lisa Clarke has been interested in music and the arts
since the age of 4, when she began musical training in piano. Lisa
continued piano and entered many competitions throughout the Southeast
Region, eventually earning a Scholarship in Piano to East Carolina
University in Greenville, NC. From Junior High School through College,
Lisa also participated in the Marching Bands, Concert Bands, and Stage
Bands at Caldwell High School in Columbus, MS and Williamston High
School in Williamston, NC. She then went on to earn a spot on the Flag
Corps at East Carolina University. While a junior in High School, Lisa
became Captain of the Flag Corps at Caldwell High School, choreographing
award- winning routines for the Caldwell High Flag Team. After
returning to Columbus from North Carolina, Lisa was contracted by
Heritage Academy in Columbus, MS to choreograph routines for the
Patriots Marching Band Flag Corps. Although not
a dancer herself, as a dedicated parent to both her girls who were
dancers, Lisa loves watching her daughter and her students dance while
also supporting the Dance Studio and the Dance Families at WDC as
Secretary/Bookkeeper. She also now has the wonderful privelege of
watching the newest talent in the family, Kristen's daughter, Brooklyn. "Dancers are instruments, like a piano the
choreographer plays." - George Balanchine
